Billing

Flow

work.studio has four plans: Free, Team, Business and Enterprise. Each is priced on runs plus AI credits. For prices and what each plan includes, see work.studio/pricing.

Signing up takes no payment. After you sign up, the account shows Account Submitted Successfully! and Pending Approval until work.studio approves it, and it starts on the Free plan. Once you’re in, choose a paid plan on the Billing page (see Change your plan).

Open the avatar menu and select Billing. The page is titled Billing & Subscription.

Section What it shows
Current Subscription Your plan, its status, the monthly price and the billing period
Credit Balance Available Credits, the total balance including any reserved, and Next Reset
Invoice History Each invoice’s number, date, amount and status, with View and PDF
Current Period Usage Credits, Workflow Runs and storage used this period
AI Cost Governance A link to Manage Cost Policies

Workflow Runs under Current Period Usage counts the runs started this period, across every environment, with your plan’s limit when it has one (“Unlimited on your plan” otherwise). Available Plans lists the plans you can move to (see Change your plan).

If your organization is billed by invoice under an Enterprise agreement, the page shows the contract instead, and says “Billing for this account is managed by your work.studio account team.” Buying credits, changing plans and payment methods are then handled by that team.

  1. Under Credit Balance, select Buy Credits.
  2. In Buy Credit Pack, choose a pack and select Buy Now. Payment happens on Stripe’s checkout page.

The credits are added to your account straight away. They don’t expire while your subscription is active.

  • Manage Payment Methods opens the Stripe billing portal, where you change your card and see every invoice (“View all invoices in billing portal”).
  • Cancel Subscription asks you to confirm, with an optional reason. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
  • If a payment fails, a Payment Past Due alert appears with Update Payment.
  1. On the Billing page, go to Available Plans. Your plan reads Current Plan.
  2. Select Upgrade or Downgrade on the plan you want, then confirm (Confirm Upgrade or Confirm Downgrade).
  3. If no card is on file yet, work.studio takes you to Stripe’s secure checkout to add one, and the new plan starts there.

An upgrade is charged the prorated difference now and adds its credits straight away. A downgrade is credited on your next invoice; your current credit balance stays until the next reset. Enterprise plans are arranged with the work.studio team: use Contact Support.

What a refund does to your plan:

  • A full refund of your plan’s latest invoice ends the subscription at once, with no proration and no final invoice. It isn’t renewed.
  • A partial refund, or a refund of an older invoice, keeps the subscription as it is.
  • A refund of a credit pack doesn’t change your plan.

The same applies to plans that people buy in your App: a full refund of their latest invoice ends their plan at once, and if they buy again afterwards they get the new plan.

A run is one execution of one automation, however many steps it has. A 12-step automation costs the same as a 2-step one. Steps skipped by a condition aren’t billed, and nothing is billed per step. Only runs that finished or failed count: a run that work.studio stopped because it was stuck isn’t billed.

If you go over your plan, your automations keep running. You get an email at 80% and 100%, and the extra is billed at your plan’s rate.

Steps and chats that call a language model use credits, because each call has a real per-token cost. Images and voice minutes use them too. Connect your own model provider key and those calls use no credits. See AI usage and cost.
